On April 20, 2019, Pamela Miller Todd reached out through Ancestry.com after recognizing the Lorenz surname in a DNA match. Her opening message: 'You have a last name that I recognize. I have a great-aunt Edith and Uncle Ed Lorenz. Edith is the sister of my paternal grandfather Charles R. Johnston. Could this be how we're related?' Pamela is the daughter of Donna Lea Johnston Miller (Charles's daughter), and grew up close to Charles's older sister Edith.
